Become a Friend of Ossabaw… and help the Ossabaw Island Foundation achieve its goals.

Ossabaw is a National treasure with its 26,000 wild acres and its nine-mile long beach. The island, a very special ecosystem, has valuable lessons for humans about the natural word.

The Friends of Ossabaw are supporters of the Ossabaw Island Foundation. Their annual contributions make possible the preservation of the island’s historic properties, which include tabby slave dwellings of national significance, an early-prefabricated house, circa 1880, and an outstanding Spanish Revival house built in 1924.
Support from the Friends of Ossabaw is also essential to the continuing operation of meaningful environmental education programs.

There are several levels of membership in the Friends of Ossabaw:

• Fiddler Crab $999-$500

• Lucky the Ossabaw Pig $499-$100

Friends of Ossabaw receive quarterly newsletters from the Ossabaw Island Foundation. Friends are encouraged to take an active interest in the island.
The Ossabaw Island Foundation is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization. Contributions to The Ossabaw Island Foundation are deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Unrestricted Giving

While directed gifts are welcome, unrestricted gifts are critical to the day to day operations and survival of The Ossabaw Island Foundation. We currently operate on a shoe-string budget of $110,000 a year. Approximately 40% of these expenses are supported by the Friends of Ossabaw, individuals from around the country who support the mission of The Ossabaw Island Foundation. The remainder is derived from grants and program fees. While our constituency is growing at a steady pace, additional commitments are needed to provide for stable, year to year operations. Unrestricted giving allows the foundation to apply your funds where they are needed most. Gifts can include cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or a bequest. We will work with you and your tax advisor to determine an appropriate solution for you. We are seeking pledges that will allow the foundation to modestly increase its operating budget over the next few years in support of the mentioned projects.
